i had changed my comp3505 blog address.

week 12 final

we almost finish our work,the only part of work we have not done is the coding of the final quiz, to be honest, i nevet thought the final quiz is that hard, we actually already tried severl ways to do the final page,and then changed agian and agian, it becomes complicated then what i thought, because we are not good at this coding part, we dont have programming background, that's why it becomes like that.
but we finished finally with Dekker's help, we just want to say thanks to Stephen, Dekker ane Marrie, they really helped us, we ll keep it in our heart.

week 11 final version

After we finish the first version for our book, we just relised what we should bind it each pages together......and also stephen help us a lot, he tried to find a way to put each pages together, and finally he thought may be we could use the materials already exist, for example, the notebook already had the binder, and we probably could use it...

After then, we went to bookshop, second-hand book shop in our school,and also we went to print shop in the city, we want to find a materials with a binder, eventually, we did..

we want to redo it again, even we already been made the book for 3 times .... but still we would like to show our perfect book without any regret. then we make it again by using the new binder materials.

we cut the binder from the notebook, and then we start to make single page, after that, we put the binder in the middle of the page, and pur two single pages besides...

week 10 first-edition of our physical book

we start to work on the graphic works based on the interview, we had figured out what our main character looks like? how many characters do we need? what is the situation they are in? and what is our main line through the whole book.

we go and ask feedbacks from tutors and lecturer, they suggest us to make the story as simple as we can.

After that, we start to do the skech work, to put our ideas down to to the paper, it helps us to manage and organise each page for our physical book, we begin to put more details onto each page, including the content, and colors.

week 9 physical book

we had been through a lot of ways to get the physical book done, it has been changed a a few times, we first made a demo-work for the physical work, it does not have any images on it, we just want to show how the physical book to be interactive to children, like pop-up thing, rotate method and pull-push method, we actually been to library and go to check what kind of books are chilren's favourate, sounds books and pop-up books are our best target to look at .

Week 8 technology!

We had been through a lot of ideas from the begining of this semster till now, we were thinking that use FlaToolKit, and RFID technology before, because they are really cool to show our ideas, but we considered our situation so far, we think better to use barcode and actionscipt.

We asked Dekker about the technology, we want it to be easy to use and easy to set for our target users. so we are thinking to use barcode to be each pages, when users turn over the page, the animations will be changed automaticly.

Then we are thinking to use webcam and projector to catch children's motion. because there is a quiz for testing children how much they learnt from the interactive book, the webcam have to detect children's motion, it's in order to allow children drag any of rubbish in the animaiton by hand to put them into the right garage bins.

We are starting to learn action script now, and also dekker send us some useful imformation about the technolgy to us...we will keep working on this....

Week 7 interview results

I finished the interview work, and then arranged the interview materials agian, i found a few interesting things.

The first thing is that parents doesn't want their children to read this book before they go to sleep, children would be excited if they read it, if's hard for children to go to sleep.

Secondly, i found that children would like toread books with a lot of animals, so we decided that animals would be our main characters in the physical books and the flash animations based on the interview.

the third thing is that children like to read pop-up books and voice books, its easy to catch their attention, children always be curious with those kind of pop-up thing and nature sounds.

The last thing is we need to keep our story in the book as simple as possible, because our target users are 4-6 yrs children, they dont read much text in their age, so we have take this problem as seiours issue, and also be careful to use siple and short words to show our ideas in the project.
